Shelf Talkers aide in weight loss and nutrition programs
May 2, 2011
As many food suppliers and retail grocers will agree, North American eating habits are cleaning up their act. If given the choice and similar price point, the average consumer will opt in for a âhealthierâ option every time. Organic food has grown in popularity due to the discovery that many additives and preservatives are directly contributing to health issues.
âSafe is defined by Congress as "reasonable certainty that no harm will result from use" of an additive. Some substances that are found to be harmful to people or animals may be allowed, but only at the level of 1/100th of the amount that is considered harmful.â - http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/002435.htm 1
The use of shelf signage in your stores has been proven to increase sales from 20 â 40%. Shelf talkers are a key component in assisting customers to identify branding and category items.
âWhen I see the green
flag I know itâs organic..even from the end of the isle. â
More and more grocery retailers are publishing their own cooking and recommended food guides. Certain Loblaws stores for example, contain a Goodlife Fitness gym, and hosts in-store cooking and nutritional seminars.
Conceptually, their consumer would exercise, and then go downstairs and impulse shop as a result of hunger. Imagine if that same consumer had a recommend diet plan detailing the isles where they could find the items, and all the items were clearly indicated by shelf talkers? Convenient, efficient, customer friendly, promoting health and wellness, there are no flaws in this scenario.
